Gender ideology is the belief system that separates gender identity from biological sex and teaches that a person’s internal sense of gender may differ from their male or female body. It often views gender as socially constructed, fluid, or existing on a spectrum rather than as a fixed biological reality. Gender ideology generally holds that self-identified gender should be socially and legally affirmed, including through language, education, medicine, and public policy.
Critics argue that it elevates subjective feelings above biological reality and encourages confusion about human identity, especially among children and adolescents. From a Christian worldview, gender ideology conflicts with the biblical teaching that God intentionally created humanity male and female (Genesis 1:27), and that the body is part of God’s good design rather than something to be rejected or redefined according to personal feelings.
