Rapture: The event in which Christ gathers believers—both the resurrected dead and living Christians—to meet Him in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; 1 Corinthians 15:51–52). Christians disagree over whether this occurs before, during, or after the tribulation and whether it is distinct from Christ’s visible return.
