Their objective was not merely to achieve tolerance but to secure full societal acceptance of homosexuality, employing tactics that included the concealment of certain controversial aspects of the gay subculture.

- To shift societal norms, making support for homosexuality a marker of moral virtue.
Concealment of Predatory Behavior: “Chicken-Hawking” and Youth Targeting
A particularly troubling aspect of the gay subculture that Kirk and Madsen advised to keep hidden was the phenomenon known as “chicken-hawking.” In gay slang, a “chickenhawk” refers to an older man who seeks sexual relationships with younger males, often minors, who are colloquially termed “chickens” . This practice was notably associated with organizations like the North American Man/Boy Love Association (NAMBLA), which openly advocated for the legalization of sexual relationships between men and underage boys.
The 1994 documentary Chicken Hawk: Men Who Love Boys provides a disturbing insight into this subculture, featuring NAMBLA members discussing their justifications for such relationships . Despite public disapproval, NAMBLA members participated in gay rights marches, highlighting the tension between mainstream gay activism and fringe elements advocating for pedophilia.
Kirk and Madsen recognized that any association with such behaviors would severely damage the gay rights movement’s public image. Therefore, they emphasized the importance of distancing the movement from these elements, not necessarily by addressing or condemning the behaviors, but by ensuring they remained out of public view.
The Gay Community’s Fixation on Youth and Its Consequences
Within certain segments of the gay community, there exists a pronounced emphasis on youthfulness, often equating attractiveness with being young. This focus can marginalize older gay men, leading to feelings of invisibility and undesirability. To cope with this, some older men resort to hiring young male prostitutes to fulfill their sexual desires . This dynamic not only perpetuates the commodification of youth but also underscores the ageism present within the community.
The psychological impact on older gay men can be profound. Studies have shown that they are at a higher risk for depression and suicidal ideation compared to their heterosexual counterparts . Factors contributing to this include social isolation, internalized ageism, and the perceived loss of value in a youth-centric culture.
The Woke and Neo-Marxist Adoption of Similar Tactics
The strategic framework outlined in After the Ball has been mirrored in the tactics employed by contemporary woke and Neo-Marxist movements. These movements often utilize emotional appeals to promote their agendas, framing opposition as bigotry and leveraging media to reshape societal norms. By redefining language and manipulating public sentiment, they aim to dismantle traditional structures and values, replacing them with ideologies that often conflict with Judeo-Christian principles.
For instance, the promotion of gender ideology in schools and the redefinition of family structures reflect a broader effort to challenge and replace longstanding societal norms. These tactics, like those advocated by Kirk and Madsen, prioritize emotional resonance over factual discourse, seeking to transform culture through perception management rather than open debate.
Christian Perspective
From a Christian perspective, the strategies employed in After the Ball and by contemporary woke movements represent a departure from biblical truths. The deliberate concealment of sin, manipulation of public perception, and redefinition of moral standards stand in contrast to the scriptural call for honesty, repentance, and adherence to God’s design for human relationships.
Scripture warns against those who call evil good and good evil (Isaiah 5:20) and emphasizes the importance of truth and integrity (Ephesians 4:25). The tactics discussed not only obscure the reality of sin but also hinder individuals from recognizing their need for redemption through Christ.
Philosophical Perspective
Philosophically, the approaches outlined in After the Ball and adopted by modern ideological movements raise concerns about the manipulation of truth and the erosion of objective moral standards. They removed this video and claimed that it was satirical. Their denial of an agenda does not negate the fact that there is an agenda in America to convert children into acceptance of homosexuality and other elements of the LGBT lifestyle. Matt Walsh, a conservative Roman Catholic, covers their music video in two different episodes.
Rosaria Butterfield is an author and former lesbian English professor who converted to Christianity. She later married a pastor, and has several children.
Christopher Yuan is a former homosexual and author who converted to Christianity. He has tremendous insight into the LGBT world. This is his Christian testimony.
Forrest Smith describes his detransitioning experience and the confusion he experienced during his gender dysphoria. Unfortunately, his testicles were removed before he resolved his gender dysphoria . He will never experience the joy of natural parenting. He still wakes up from nightmares concerning the surgical experience. Detransitioners are hated by the LGBT community, especially vocal ones who speak about their experience. Chloe Cole is another good example of a young person deceived by the online LGBT community and so-called medical professionals.
Jason Evert interviews Chloe Cole, a well-known Christian detransitioner who has spoken before Congress against gender ideology. She detransitioned after resolving her gender dysphoria, but underwent a double mastectomy before detransitioning. She laments this surgery as she will not be able to breastfeed her future children as God intended. It is also uncertain whether she will be able to bear children due to previous hormone treatments. She has many interviews on Youtube.
Pastor Voddie Baucham is excellent on topics related to Cultural Marxism, including the LGBT movement. He references the aformentioned “After the Ball: How America Will Conquer its Fear and Hatred of Gays in the 1990s” book copiously throughout these two videos. These videos are part 1 and part 2 of a conference series.
Allie Beth Stuckey is a Christian talk show host. In this episode, she interviews Dominique Galbraith, a New York wedding dress designer who declined to provide a wedding dress for a same-sex wedding. Her interview is filled with grace and understanding. I highly recommend it for understanding the right approach towards the LGBT community.
