Let’s be honest. If you told a Christian dad in 1950 that one day schools would teach his son he could be a girl, or that the Supreme Court would redefine marriage altogether, he would’ve thought you were insane—or reading science fiction.
But here we are. And it didn’t happen overnight.
What we’re seeing today isn’t random cultural chaos—it’s the result of a long, intentional effort. An effort rooted in Neo-Marxist thinking that set out to tear down what it saw as the biggest obstacle to progress: the biblical family.
The nuclear family—one man, one woman, raising their kids—wasn’t just a personal arrangement. It was a pillar of Christian civilization. And Marxists knew it.
Let’s unpack how we got here—and how we, as Christians, can respond.
🎯 The Goal: Dismantle the Nuclear Family
Karl Marx viewed the family as a tool of oppression. To him, it kept property in private hands and reinforced old-school morality. His intellectual descendants took this further. If they could break apart the family, especially the Christian family, they could clear the way for a new social order.
That’s where the “long march through the institutions” comes in. A German radical named Rudi Dutschke coined the phrase, and it caught on with leftist thinkers in the 1960s and beyond.
The idea? Don’t just protest. Infiltrate. Influence. Replace. Schools, media, medicine, law, even churches.
And here’s the part that hits close to home: their strategy targeted your family.
🛠 The Tactics: How They Did It
1. Promote Gender Confusion
Judith Butler (an influential professor) helped push the idea that gender is just a social performance—not something rooted in biology. In other words, being male or female isn’t fixed; it’s “fluid.”
This idea took off. Schools, TV shows, even government forms started switching from “sex” to “gender.” Kids were taught they could choose their identity, not receive it as God-given.
But let’s be clear: that’s a direct rejection of Genesis 1:27—“Male and female He created them.”
2. Radical Feminism & Intersectionality
Simone de Beauvoir said women become women through culture, not biology. Feminists in the ‘60s and ‘70s ran with that and argued the home itself was a cage. Then came intersectionality—a theory that says oppression stacks (race, sex, sexuality, etc.), and the traditional family is guilty of perpetuating all of it.
In this view, stay-at-home moms, faithful dads, and gender norms? They’re not just old-fashioned—they’re oppressive.
3. Normalize Abortion as “Reproductive Justice”
Groups like Planned Parenthood didn’t just promote abortion access. They reframed it as a moral right. Abortion, birth control, and even surrogacy became linked to social justice. The message? If motherhood isn’t freely chosen, it’s a form of slavery.
So the bond between sex and babies was broken. And with it, the foundation of marriage and parenting.
4. Undermine Parental Rights
Across the country, schools started letting children socially “transition” without telling parents. Some districts now hide gender changes from moms and dads.
In other words: the state knows better than you when it comes to raising your child.
5. Normalize Sexual Deviance
The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and others spent decades lobbying for same-sex marriage, which culminated in the Obergefell decision in 2015. Since then, the alphabet soup has only expanded. New “identities” demand not just tolerance—but celebration. If you say no? You’re labeled a bigot.
📆 The Timeline: From Revolution to Reinvention
Here’s how the cultural shift unfolded:
Decade | What Happened |
---|---|
1960s | The Pill, Woodstock, feminism, and no-fault divorce. Families start to fray. |
1970s | Roe v. Wade legalizes abortion; divorce becomes normalized. |
1980s–90s | Gender theory enters universities; homosexuality gains legal protections. |
2000s | Same-sex marriage gains traction; entertainment media joins the push. |
2010s | Trans ideology enters schools; “Drag Queen Story Hour” becomes real. |
2020s | Gender surgeries and puberty blockers for kids; parental rights erode further. |
At each stage, the same playbook was used: redefine the norm, shame dissenters, and control the narrative.
📉 The Results: Families in Decline
- Marriage is at an all-time low.
- Birth rates have plummeted.
- Fatherlessness has exploded.
- Kids are confused and anxious.
You can’t rip out the foundation of human society and expect no consequences. And that’s exactly what happened. We’re reaping the whirlwind.
🧠 What Philosophy & Theology Say
Philosophically, gender ideology collapses under scrutiny. You can’t just “perform” your identity without reference to reality. Aristotle called it telos—the design of a thing. A man is made for fatherhood; a woman for motherhood. Denying that truth leads to chaos.
Theologically, Romans 1 nails it: When people reject the Creator, they worship themselves. That’s exactly what we see in the modern sexual revolution—an idolatry of the self.
💡 So What Can Christians Do?
We don’t fight back with rage. We fight with truth, love, and resolve. Here’s how:
- Teach your kids biblical identity. From the start, tell them they are fearfully and wonderfully made—male or female, by God’s design.
- Keep the family strong. Prioritize marriage. Disciple your children at home. Model what God’s design looks like in action.
- Engage the culture wisely. Be salt and light in politics, law, education, media. We can’t abandon the institutions—we have to reclaim them.
- Show mercy to the broken. Many people caught in this revolution are hurting. Show them the better way—truth with grace.
- Pray. A lot. The spiritual battle is real, but so is our Sovereign Lord.
🙏 Final Thoughts
Neo-Marxism has done real damage. But God’s truth isn’t going anywhere.
The good news? No matter how far the culture drifts, Jesus Christ is still King. His design for family—one man, one woman, raising children in the fear of the Lord—is still the most beautiful, powerful, and life-giving blueprint on earth.
We don’t need to invent new identities. We need to rediscover who God made us to be.
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. (Joshua 24:15)
Let’s build strong families, stand for the truth, and live boldly in a confused age.
