The historic, culturally influential Protestant denominations that dominated American religious life from the late 19th through the mid-20th century. These churches were once considered the religious establishment of the United States and were heavily involved in education, politics, missions, publishing, and social reform.
Unfortunately, these denominations no longer reflect the sound theology of their founders and typically embrace abortion and LGBT affirmation.
These denominations include the United Methodist Church (UMC), Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), Episcopal Church (TEC), Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA), American Baptist Churches USA (ABCUSA), United Church of Christ (UCC), and Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
